Praying Psalms Chapter Three. Why Are Psalms so important us?
Why Are Psalms so important us? Because they were so relevant to all who believed when they were written and so relevant today for all who believe in Christ. The Psalms of David deal with life’s issues on a very personal level. We have a glimpse into the life of Kind David and the other Psalmist. Granted David wrote, prayed and sang his psalms to the Lord because of issues he was dealing with. And that’s why they were recorded for us. They give us a glimpse of how we should worship before the lord.
In Psalm 91, which was written by Moses, there is a prophetic shift in verses 14-16. As Moses was proclaiming the promises of God in the Psalm there was a response from heaven, from the Lord, which created the shift. The shift not only substantiates the promises by God’s prophet, it also emphatically tells all who Love God that the blessing are theirs as well.
14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
16 “With a long life I will satisfy him, And let him see My salvation.”
Now, how do we know these promises are for the body of Christ?
Jesus stated in John’s Gospel: 15:1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. 9 Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
Every word in the Bible is profitable. As we read Psalm 3 We get an insight from David on how to deal with both spiritual warfare and flesh warfare. We can pray as David prayed against evil. Many are stating this fact that Jesus is Love, No Doubt, Yet Jesus openly rebuked and out right whipped evil people in the temple court yard, in public, who deserved it. We must pray for the destruction of the plan of evil and the enemies of God. Remember mercy includes chastisement, if it didn’t how would we know God disapproves of our behavior when we sin? Remember, salvation belongs to The Lord.
