The Benefits of God and HIS Attributes Video Two
What I love about Psalm 103 is the outright proclamation of God’s merciful and eternal blessings. David knew first hand how merciful God is and how God will intervene in relation to evil. We have to understand just how wonderful our God IS.
I. Our God Cannot Deny Who He IS or would HE ever do so.
Our God IS: Infinite (Never Ending) – Immutable (Never Changing) – Self Sufficient – Omnipotent (All Powerful) – Omniscient (He Transcends All Dimensions) – Omnipresent (He IS Everywhere) – Wisdom (All Wise) – Faithful (To His Promises) – Good – Just – Merciful – Gracious – Loving – Holy – Glorious. This IS Our God!
Verses 6-10 reveals how a “Just God” can intervene. V6. The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. In the attribute list above it states God IS immutable – Never Changing! Can God still intervene today as He has done in the past?, Absolutely! Can we pray and ask God to help us and deliver us from evil? Absolutely! Did Jesus teach us how to pray? Yes! Are these words part of that prayer: “ Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from all evil”, yes!
Did the Apostle James tell us is epistle chapter 5 how to pray the prayer of faith believing? Should we pray according to attributes and promises of God expecting for Him to honor who HE IS in relation to His promises?
To do anything less is sin.
God has given us the right to go before HIS throne in The Name of Jesus. As daughters and sons it must be our discipline, our daily practice, to do “Due Diligence” in our faith walk. We must apply ourselves to who God IS and pray believing He can and will move by HIS power accordingly.
II. Our God is a righteous judge, a fair judge and therefore so IS His beloved Son Jesus. The very foundation of who God Almighty IS, is, based on His Attributes. His attributes describe for us who HE IS. Righteousness is one of His attributes. God IS: “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.” – Duet 32:4 Therefore we can pray asking for Him, for The Holy Spirit to move with justice against the oppressor and against evil In The name of Jesus. Because of who HE IS He will move and do what is just.
The God-Head will not move in any other way that is contrary to who they are and will always keep Their promises.
Because God IS upright and perfect in all that He does so IS His Son Jesus who is the Perfect reflection of His Holy Father. We can rest assured that Jesus will do what is right in every situation because The God-Head Glorious IS perfect in every way and of ONE purpose. God is never wrong concerning anything. How can we be so sure? If God The Father wasn’t who Abraham, Moses or David proclaimed HE IS Israel would not exist and Jesus would never have come to earth to die on a bloody cross for you and me.
Because God loved us so much HE sent Jesus to die on a cross for us so we could be made whole and one again with HIM, with Jesus and with Holy Spirit.
III. David is proclaiming to us who and what God IS and did for Israel even though Israel rebelled and sinned against God. David reminds us, through God’s servant Moses, what a testimony of rightness looks like.
God’s rightness or righteousness was exemplified through His Mercy, Grace and Goodness which are all attributes of The Glorious God Head; v8. The LORD is: compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion,” Therefore: v9. He will not always accuse us, nor harbor His anger forever.
Please note: HE will not always connotes that He does rebuke and chastise. He does so to make us aware we are not headed in the right direction. Because He loves us He chastises us so we can learn what is pleasing to Him. His love brings us to a place of humility, to our knees, if we subject ourselves to His will. In that place of contrition He loving forgives us and speaks to us and forgives so we can move forward.
Many in church today are not heeding the love God that disciplines us and corrects our way. In the same way He contends with us He will also stop contending and allow a person to walk down a path that He did not choose for them. At some point God will remove His hand of guidance because a person can refuse to listen.
People find themselves in bad situations because they quit listening to God and chose to follow their flesh, their earthly, desires which moved them way from following God.
Remember what Jesus said: Matthew 13:38-53 The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels… We have to let the voice and words of God to fall on good soil and cultivate God’s blessings by walking in obedience to God. If we really love God, Jesus said: obey Me. When we fail and we will He is there. He will never leave us or forsake us. When we forsake Him, He will let us make the choice of who we choose to follow. If we want God love Him and obey Him in all things.
IV. Repentance is what delivers us from the wrath of God that is coming upon the earth.
Because of God’s faithful attributes we have the benefit of knowing that when we sin we can bow before Him in “The Name of Jesus” and ask for forgiveness of our sins and repent, which means to turn away from the behavior that causes us to sin.
Because God “will not always accuse us, nor harbor His anger forever.” Because of who He Is and because He provided Jesus for us we know v10. He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities.
In Closing: What an amazing God we have: A Holy Mighty Father God and His Beloved Son and His Holy Spirit have blessed us through Jesus Christ. Because of their love we can love and serve them will all reverence with worship from every molecule of our being.
Because of Jesus Our Lord and Savior who is ‘The Lamb, The Lamp, The Light of Life, The Author and Finisher of our faith, when we stumble or fall He will show us mercy when we cry out for forgiveness and repent.
The Bible says: “He will strengthen us in our time of need”, and that includes when we fail. Because Jesus IS the Perfecter of our faith when we humble ourselves before Him He is Faithful to hear and because Faithfulness is another immutable attribute of who HE IS He will move in His power unto His Glory to help us in all things if we pray believing.
