Fellowship With The Godhead In The Abiding

The Creator’s First Intention For Creating Mankind

He Created Us In His Image For The Purpose Of Fellowship

Intro: Genesis 3: 8-13 Gives an insight to The Holy Father’s communication He had with Adam and Eve.

3:8a “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day”. Why was God, The Creator, of all things strolling in a garden during the cool of the day? It appears He wanted to visit its inhabitance. He wanted to check out and check up on His creation. In the next verse it’s apparent that His creation knew Him because…

3:8b and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

This is the first revelation we encounter concerning Sin and Guilt, a revelation of man’s consciousness reacting to when he has done something wrong.

I. But, More Important, What Was The Holy Father’s First Response?

9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, Where are you?

Did Father God know Adam and Eve had sinned against His will by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? And, the exact location of where they were hiding?

Absolutely – Yes! God The Creator knows everything!

Did God’s foreknowledge of all things, knowing Adam and Eve were going to sin against Him, stop Him from His stroll in the garden or communicating with Adam and Eve?

No!

II. Some believe, God showed up only to (punish) Adam and Eve.

What I believe God did was set forth an example of how He communicates with His creation. I believe chastisement was part of the meeting but do not believe this was The Father’s primary intention. Remember, Hebrews 12:6 For the Lord (disciplines) the one he loves, and (chastises) every son and daughter whom He (receives).” God The Creator chastised Adam and Eve and recorded this event in His word, the bible, to give His creation insight into how the Father wants to communicate with His creation. It appears He strolled in the garden with Adam and Eve often which denotes relationshipfellowship, and presence while abiding. I believe, Father God kept His schedule to meet with Adam and Eve to show us the way forward into a personal relationship, a fellowship with Him, and an example of abiding with our Holy Creator.

1) A Personal Relationship: Please note the end of Hebrews 12:6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son and daughter whom He receives”. With humility and respect we must request an audience with God to create a personal relationship. How do we do that?

Just as God The Father asked Adam where are you hiding, The Holy Spirit of God moves on our hearts and mind, our conscious, to ask God to forgive our sins. The Holy Spirit reveals there is only ONE WAY TO SALVATION and that is through Jesus Christ. For those who have invited Jesus Christ into their heart to be Lord and Savior, they receive a front row pass to the footstool of The Holy Creator. It’s at the feet of the Godhead, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, where we find relationship, fellowship and abiding.

2) Fellowship When you decide, you have to choose to have a personal relationship with the Godhead through the righteousness of Christ. Then you will realize it’s OK to come out of the bushes and start a daily fellowship with them. That relationship begins by confessing all your sins, asking Jesus to be your Savior, and how He wants you to live in a manner that is pleasing to God going forward.

III. Let’s look at Adam and Eve’s encounter with God.

10 And he (Adam) said, I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.

1. This encounter is so beautiful. God knew Adam and Eve had sinned, yet He still asked where they were. God gives us all an opportunity to confess our sins, ask Him to forgive our sins and repent. To repent, means to change the direction of ones behavior. What did Adam do during his fellowship of Father asking him questions?

11 He (God) said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?

To be honest Adam 1/2 way told the truth; he scapegoated his authority and responsibility for his actions.

12 The man said, The woman whom You (God) gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.

Adam blamed Eve for his actions, his transgressions against God’s will. He made her the patsy for his actions. He was 1/2 way telling the truth.

IV. A Lesson To Remember: In one’s relationship and fellowship with The Holy Creator, always confess your sins, ask forgiveness for your sins and then ask God to forgive the one who has sinned against you.

Jesus told us to this in Matthew 6:9-14,

9: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

10Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread,

12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,

15but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

What should Adam have said? Father, I did eat, please forgive me for not following your will by taking authority over the serpent and mandating we not eat from of the tree of which You commanded us not to eat. And please forgive Eve. Instead, Adam blamed God for giving him the woman who gave him the fruit.

13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, What is this that you have done? The woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate.

To make matters worst, Eve was given the same chance. What did she do? Eve also scapegoated her responsibility by stating “the devil made do it”. The serpent, the devil, tempted Adam and Eve, but, could not make them act out in disobedience. They both had to choose of their own free will to sin against God.

V. The Application: 1. Always be honest. 2. Do not blame others for your actions. 3. Ask for forgiveness. 4. And repent, change your behavior. What ever the situation you found yourself in, or reason you were in it, do not allow yourself to be put in the situation again. Turn around and walk away. Always apply God’s truth, found in His written word, the bible, to your heart and mind to lead your behavior.

This is just one blessing we receive from our A) relationship, while B) fellowshipping with the Godhead which leads to daily C) presence while abiding.

We have to remember: God The Creator knows everything we have done and what we’re going to do. The Holy Spirit has been given to us and He abides in us to help us walk a holy life by leading us to God’s truth. The same conviction that fell upon Adam’s heart is the same that falls on ours when we transgress God’s will and desires for us.

In Closing: Because The Holy Spirit abides in us, Jesus stated in John 15:1-4: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Going Forward In God: 1) Relationship causes 2) fellowship which places desires into our hearts and minds to 3) abide in Jesus every day.

One More Note: To abide, means to daily agree with The Godhead. They are always right, love and respect them as you follow Their will for life.

This is called the blessing of fellowship in the abiding. Daily cultivate your 1) relationship with the Godhead. Remember, we choose to 2) fellowship with them because (They) have the perfect solution for our lives concerning everything we might face in life. And we will succeed if we 3) abide in them.

Jesus gave His all, to give us a choice to receive what He loves the most; a relationship with a loving Holy Father God and eternal life. If you don’t know Jesus has your personal Lord and Savior there is no better time than right now to invite Him into your life.
