An Exaltation To The Afflicted
This prophecy given by Isaiah was pretty clear concerning the ministry the coming Messiah would engage in when He arrived.
Isaiah 61
1) The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
Because the Lord has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;
2) To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3) To grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Jeremiah 33:6 Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth.
Malachi 4:2 “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall.
Matthew 9:35 Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
Col 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
If we are honest, this Colossian scripture should be convicting us concerning putting into practice what the word of God teaches us to do; our failure to do so is part of our human nature or sin condition. “We have all leaned to our own understandings and gone astray” and have adopted social norms or talking points to justify what we are dealing with and even why we believe or what we believe. This truth was very evident at the downfall of man set forth in the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve. God said don’t, they did. Here, God is saying do and we don’t.
Two common areas of thought I would like to talk about are:
How many times have we caught ourselves saying things like: it’s a genetic thing, or science says, my family was big and loud… Not realizing the words we speak reinforce our behavior concerning a multitude of issues we deal with in life. The fact is, most of the behaviors and attitudes we have are systemic from our social surroundings. We are taught to think we are pre-disposed to familial traits. Also we are told our DNA shares common bonds in our social system reinforcing thoughts and behaviors of our social constructs. Then we read the Word of God and we battle with faith v/s the human or flesh nature.
When I was in Grad school I did a paper on a clinical term called cognitive dissonance theory: there is a tendency for individuals to seek consistency among their cognitions (i.e., beliefs, opinions). When there is an inconsistency between attitudes or behaviors (dissonance), something must change to eliminate the dissonance. The fastest way to eliminate dissonance is to believe God’s word and apply His faith to our situations.
The ways we deal with the promises of God are also based on our social systems and learned theological constructs pertaining to the historical Godhead which reinforces how we apply the practical application of God’s promises for today.
God wrote the bible so every person could understand the primary focus of His intent. Jesus, is the primary focus of our faith and He came to teach, save, heal and deliver us. His ministry in the Synoptic Gospels revealed these facts when The Word became flesh.
The Apostle Paul stated we must daily:
Col 3:2 Set (our) your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Here’s what Jesus had to say about points A and B:
John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. 9 Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
Our Savior is the God of the abiding, the God of the NOW, and His promises are never changing or fading.
Col 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—
Col 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
We must pray the prayer of faith heartily, believing. Hebrews 11:1 NOW faith is: 2) the assurance of things hoped for and 3) the conviction of things not seen.
The Godhead is the God of the NOW.
1) Now Faith is!
2) We are told to pray with assured belief that what we are asking for God wants to bless us with it.
3) We are told to pray with such conviction that the thing we don’t see will become manifest because God said He would answer our prayer.
In Closing: even the Apostles dealt with dissonance; so be it according to your faith.
The Abiding Oneness With The Father
John 14:7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
8 Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
(This reveals Philip’s lack of faith and trust)
9 Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but The Father abiding in Me does His works.
11 Believe Me that I Am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
The Promise:
12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
I believe we should pray about every and any need we have. Especially the ones that line up with the purpose of the Lord’s anointed ministry.
If the Lord came to minister to the afflicted:
Isaiah 53:
4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.
What are your needs?
Let’s agree together and keep praying until the promise is manifest. Knock, knock, knock and keep knocking until the door is open and the blessing has been received.

Something new is happening. Guillermo Maldonado has moved in miracles for years, but he just returned from Argentina, where in a matter of minutes he saw 60 people get creative miracles, even new organs. And he says it’s transferable.
